A Trio with a Unique Instrumentation - Experience the Glissonic Sound!
Join us for a musical night featuring a trio with a completely unique instrumentation, where the main instrument is a custom-developed creation! The Glissonic instrument family is the brainchild of Dániel Váczi, with the first member being the glissotar. Its sound can be described as a cross between the "tárogató" (an old soprano saxophone-like Hungarian instrument) and the violin. The innovation of the glissonics lies in the fact that instead of sound holes, a longitudinal section running along the instrument's body and covered by a magnetic strip is used to control the pitch. This allows for glissandos and quarter tones to be played by sliding the fingers, similar to a violin string.
Dániel Váczi has been exploring the possibilities of the new instrument with his band, which is a continuation of the trio formed back in 2001. The double bass has been replaced by a piano and an analog synthesizer, enriching the sonic landscape with harmonic and polyphonic structures. This is skillfully handled by one of Hungary's prominent free jazz pianists and keyboardists, Máté Pozsár, who, in recent years, has delved deeply into the world of synthesizers, samplers, and other electronic instruments.
At the drums, we still have Váczi Dániel's longtime musical companion, Zsolt Sárvári Kovács.
Their repertoire consists of reinterpretations of some old trio pieces, fresh compositions, improvisational concepts, and radically transformed adaptations of classical music themes.
