Film screening with live soundtrack
'In my childhood, during the summers, we used to travel to Transylvania with my grandparents. We visited many places, spending countless hours on the road. I observed the passing landscape from the back seat, through the window. This may not be the best opportunity for real encounters, but the recurring sequences of the fleeting landscape, the drifting passive travel responsible for orientation, allow for a free, meditative contemplation that randomly captures and releases details. Once again, I traveled through Transylvania from the back seat, all the way to Balánbánya and back.
In the valley of the Kőrös River, the last traces of the vanished peasant lifestyle, the landscape-altering effects of the former fervent industrialization, and the monumental objects indispensable to our current lifestyle form a unique blend. The density of this landscape is fascinating. In this film, I attempt to depict the density of this fabric. The 'Artificial City' at the end of the journey is a memorial to the unfinished feverish industrialization, a remnant of Romanian ore mining.
Come and watch this slowly flowing film, which, among other things, may provide an opportunity for contemplating the meditative effects of human landscape-altering and the devastating impact of our lifestyle.'
